To be honest with you, I’m not the biggest fan of beauty boxes. I have found that most of the time you end up with tiny samples of products that you don’t really want. I always end up feeling like I would have rather spent that ten or twenty pounds on one thing that I actually want. That said, I’m a sucker for a mini. You only have to see me let loose in Sephora’s sample size isle to know the full extent of my obsession. The difference is, I want minis of products I actually want to use. That’s why I was pleasantly surprised when I got my hands on this TILI box from QVC. It’s filled with products that I already know and love!
First up is an oldie but a goodie – Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish and muslin cloth. I have been through a good few full sizes of this. It’s a gentle, no-fuss cleanser that I’ve gone back to time and time again throughout the years. This travel size is going straight into my wash bag for my next holiday.
Next is a generous 50ml sample of Alpha H’s latest launch, Liquid Gold Rose. This stuff packs a punch. I was a bit scared of the tingle the first time I used it but learnt to deal with it once I saw the results. This liquid lotion exfoliates dead skin clearing the path for your other skincare to penetrate more easily. This gentler version of the original Liquid Gold has helped to improve my skin’s tone and complexion. Warning: this is hardcore so only use this on 3 alternate nights a week.
I’m such a lazy tanner. You won’t find me standing starkers waiting for my tan to dry. That’s why I’ve been loving Vita Liberata Ten Minute Tan‘s formula. It does the job in just ten minutes, you wash it off and then get on with your life. My colleague actually said I looked like a ‘hot Brazilian Kardashian’ after using this. I’ll take that as a compliment! However, I’m not sure how far you’d get with just 20ml. Tan one arm? Get the full size and smother yourself in it and say HELLO to your golden goddess self.
it Cosmetics CC+ cream is another QVC buy of mine. Luckily TILI included the mini in my shade (medium). This will be going on the plane with me next time I travel for a quick spruce up before stepping off the flight (I always fly bare faced). Essentially this is like a tinted moisturiser which is super easy to apply, leaving you with an even complexion without looking cake faced. Quick and easy, natural looking makeup is what I’m about and this ticks all the boxes.
I’m a huge fan of Benefit mascaras and Roller Lash is no exception. My last one has dried up but I still use the wand to comb out and shape my lashes after applying another mascara. The plastic bristled wand is THAT good. Fun fact: I always use mascara minis as I’m careful about what I put near my eyes and won’t hold on to a mascara for long. Using minis allows me to try lots of different products without feeling guilty about throwing away a full size product.
I always have my claws done and my nail brand of choice is OPI. It’s pretty hardwearing and the shade range is great. Plus the names always make me giggle. I haven’t tried Living On the Bula-Vard yet but it’s a perfect deep orange colour. Summer nails sorted!
Now for the products that are new to me:
Although I haven’t ever tried Ultrasun Face SPF 30 before, it’s a favourite amongst many. I see it as a ‘mumsie’ brand, meaning that mums would trust this enough to protect their children’s skin in the sun. That’s why it’s going straight into my flight bag along with my it Cosmetics CC cream.
I was slightly scared of the bright blue soap bar in the Erno Laszlo Firmarine cleansing duo. However, the term ‘Double Cleanse’ in the accompanying booklet won me over. The idea is that you massage the cleansing oil onto your dry face and then rub the lathered up cleansing bar over the oil. The Marine Algae penetrates pores to dissolve makeup, smoothe and firm the skin.
To be honest with you I haven’t tried the Julien Farel Vitamin shampoo and conditioner because the 50ml bottled are perfect to travel with. This haircare claims to push powerful anti-aging bioactives deeper into the scalp and hair to hydrate, nourish and protect hair.
Now listen to this guys, you get ALL OF THIS for just £20! Plus you don’t have to sign up to a subscription. Now that sounds like a pretty good deal to me and that’s coming from a beauty box cynic. Get yours now and that’s your holiday wash bag sorted (thank me later).
Have you tried any other beauty boxes?
