So let’s face it, as much as we love our high end products, nobody can resist a good bargain can they?! I am a huge fan of the Chanel and Macs of this world, but sometimes my pocket just can’t stretch to their hefty price tag. I like trying new products and I have discovered some real gems at more affordable prices.
Me and this concealer go way back. I first discovered this in 2010 and in the last five years I have bought it again and again. It has a creamy texture, good coverage, it blends well and doesn’t crease – who could ask for anything more from a concealer?! I have tried many concealers from Mac to Bobbi Brown and I seem to always go back to my faithful Collection one.
I do love a good glow and dewy finish to my skin. This illuminator is so versatile: I mix it in with my foundation for an all over glow and use it on the high points of my face as a highlighter. As it’s a liquid it blends in well with my other face products and makes you appear as if you’re ‘glowing from within’. There is a decent shade range for these to suit your skins undertone. This is comparable to the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector but is less than half the price of that one! I am obsessed with highlighters, read my post featuring many others here.
I am a huge fan of Kiko in general, but these eyeshadow sticks really are a stand out product. They are perfect for a fuss free makeup look as you can sweep these on your eyelids, blend and go. Once they’re on, they do not budge. They come in 32 shades so you’re spoilt for choice. They are very similar to the By Terry Ombre Blackstar but you can get four Kiko sticks for the price of one of the By Terry ones!
Barry M Nail paint £2.99
Barry M have a huge range of colours and textures. I’m an absolute nail polish addict and I have tried them all from Chanel to OPI, but I can honestly say that I find that the Barry M ones are the best. They seem to last longer without chipping and go on quite opaque. At £2.99 and with endless shades available, they are perfect for experimenting with new colours.
Sleek Makeup blush £4.49
Sleep Makeup are another good brand that provide quality products at more affordable prices. I love their I-Divine eyeshadow palettes, but this blush is the winner for me. The Rose Gold shade is basically identical to the Nars blush in Orgasm but at one fifth of the price! They have a great shade range with matte and shimmer finishes and even trio palettes for £9.99.
I love these so much that I’ve actually written a whole post dedicated to them here. They’re easy to apply, last on the lips and come in a wide range of shades and finishes. All for under £10!
I tend to always apply liner all over my lips before lipstick. These lip liners don’t dry out my lips as they have a slightly waxy finish. They’re highly pigmented so perfect to wear all over the lip as a lip colour too. Boots seem to always be giving out no7 vouchers, so these end up being cheap as chips!
I used to be faithful to the Anastasia Brow Wiz, but I’m now a convert to this. The design of the packaging is identical, with a very fine twist up pencil on one end and a spoolie on the other. The formula is slightly waxier but it does the job for half the price.
I literally could not live without this product. I have unruly brows that like to stick out in all directions. This ensures that they are kept tame. Clear mascaras tend to go all grey after a while so I refuse to pay Mac prices for something that does the same job for under £2! I have written an entire post on this gem of a product here.
Last but by no means least is my mascara of choice. I have tried mascaras from Mac, Dior, Lancome…but this leaves my lashes looking so much nicer. It separates, gives length and volume, leaving you with a set of nice full lashes without having to wear falsies. I’m also a fan of the Max Factor False Lash Effect mascara but that one is ever so slightly more expensive.
So there you have it, my affordable heroes that do the job without breaking the bank!
